At OnPoint Holistic Veterinary Care, our purpose is to provide your pet with a total wellness approach to healthcare. Working with your general veterinary practitioner, we help to alleviate pain, promote wellness, reduce symptoms of disease and prolong life while ensuring your pet's quality of life is at the forefront of all treatment methods.

Our Story

OnPoint Holistic Veterinary Care was established to provide alternative options for owners who wish to seek an integrative or holistic approach to their pet’s care. Our in-home service allows your pet to be treated in a more relaxing environment, making their treatments less stressful and a more pleasant experience for the pet and their carers. We bring all the tools required for effective treatment of your pet right to your home.

Our pets’ bodies are continuously trying to remain balanced and prevent disease but their diet, genetics and environment make this balance difficult to maintain. We employ a combination of acupuncture, diet changes and herbal medications to bring equilibrium back to their bodies. Our trained holistic veterinarians take an individualized approach to each case to determine the best treatment plan for the pet.

A HOLISTIC AND INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO VETERINARY CARE

ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture is the specific placement of specialized needles in points on a pets body to enhance and aid in the healing of specific disease processes. This treatment can be used in conjunction with western treatment methods to improve results and aid in overall wellness in your pet. Common diseases acupuncture can be useful in treating include cancer, arthritis, post-operative healing, organ diseases, behavioral and general aging in pets.

LASER THERAPY

Veterinary laser therapy is an innovative treatment that can help aid in pain management, inflammation, and wound healing. Therapeutic lasers are slowly moved over an affected areas of the pet’s body for 15-30 minutes per treatment session. These treatments can be given daily, weekly, or monthly depending on the condition being treated. Common conditions that can benefit from laser therapy include chronic arthritis, surgical incisions, tendon and ligament injuries, traumatic injuries. Laser therapy is also particularly useful for pets with limited medical treatment options due to other underlying diseases such as liver or kidney disease, for cats who have limited pain relief options and for exotic pets where medications may be more difficult to administer.

VETERINARY HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal medicine is the use of plants to aid in the treatment of diseases and can help reduced or eliminate the use of chronic medications. These products are available in liquid or capsule form to enable ease of delivery to your pets.

OnPoint Holistic Veterinary Care provides in-home acupuncture, laser therapy and herbal medicine to pets in Dumbo, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, Gowanus and Park Slope. FOUNDER AND VETERINARIAN

Dr. Laura Brisbane-Cohen

BSc, BVMS (hons), MVPH-EAD, CVA, CVCH

Dr. Laura Brisbane-Cohen was born in Australia and raised in Hong Kong, but now calls New York City home having lived and worked here for the last 10 years. Dr. B-C grew up traveling and exploring the world. She has worked as a veterinarian in Australia, Hong Kong, the U.K., China and the U.S. using a combination of Eastern and Western medicine long before she formally started practicing integrative medicine. She is deeply familiar with how powerful this approach can be in ensuring the best quality of life for companion animals. She is certified in both veterinary acupuncture and herbal medicine in small animals. She is also the proud mum of a rescue cat called Dexter who has traveled the world with her.
